The world is always changing—and so are the things that live in it. Use this app to learn about how different areas have been affected by natural disasters and human activities. Then, imagine what it would be like to live in these places, from an Inuit igloo to the Santorini Islands of Greece.
Air pollution, dust, wildfire smoke, and other human-made aerosols contaminate the atmosphere. These maps show the average amount of water vapor in the atmosphere each month. Water vapor is the key ingredient for rain and snow and also an important greenhouse gas.
The USGS pulls together Landsat 7 and 8 recordings on its EarthNow platform and makes them available on Google Earth. It takes about 60 to 125 minutes for new images to be available on the app.
